At Osisko Development and the Cariboo Gold Project, we are committed to providing a safe and healthy work environment and health and safety policy that is designed to ensure our operations are conducted in a manner that protects our employees, contractors, visitors, and communities. Furthermore, we encourage employee participation and consultation in health and safety matters including hazard identification and risk assessment. For example, involvement through our Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee is a key part of a safe and healthy workplace.

Every year on April 28, the United Nations International Labour Organization (ILO) holds World Day for Safety and Health at Work. This year, the ILO’s aim is to encourage governments, employers, employees, and stakeholders to collaborate and take action to reduce workplace accidents, injuries, and occupational diseases under the 2024 theme: Impacts of Climate Change on Occupational Safety and Health.

Climate change isn’t an ordinary occupational safety and health problem; it’s a complex, global issue with far-reaching consequences for the physical health, mental health, and overall well-being of workers worldwide. Examples of occupational risk that are intensified by climate change include heat stress, UV radiation, air pollution, extreme weather events, an increase in vector-borne diseases, and more.
